The RRT is committed to providing our community with up-to-date resources regarding rental assistance, finances, legal options, mediation, utility assistance, and more.

Financial Resources

Missouri renters who are financially impacted by COVID-19 can apply for State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR) program funds through the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Renters or Landlords can apply for SAFHR. Renters who qualify can receive financial assistance for rent and utility payments.

Madison County residents can apply for rental assistance as a tenant or landlord. Renters who qualify can receive financial assistance for rent and utility payments.

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri advances justice through legal representation, education and supportive services. They partner with the community to improve lives, promote fairness and create opportunities for those in need.

Metropolitan St. Louis Equal Housing and Opportunity Council (EHOC)

EHOC works to end illegal housing discrimination in the Metropolitan St. Louis area in Missouri and Illinois by ensuring equal access to housing and places of public accommodation for all people through education, counseling, investigation, and enforcement. For assistance in legal aid, call 314-534-5800.

In response to the COVID-19 eviction crisis, EHOC created a new Eviction Defense program. Staffed with dedicated eviction defense attorneys, tenant advocates, and support staff, EHOC is providing legal support to eligible tenants facing eviction or risk of eviction in St. Louis City and St. Louis County. Tenants must have been impacted by COVID in some way and some income restrictions apply. If you are being evicted or are at risk of eviction, please call EHOC’s Eviction Hotline at 314-534-5800, Option 1.

ArchCity Defenders

ArchCity Defenders uses holistic legal advocacy to fight with their clients in court, help families rebuild their lives together, and bring civil rights lawsuits to challenge the direct abuses of the criminal legal system.

St. Francis Community Services, Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry

St. Francis Community Services ​empowers low income and marginalized community members through legal aid, immigrant services and long-term case management.

Legal Advice & Referral Center

Legal Advice & Referral Center is a division of Land of Lincoln Legal Aid that provides free legal advice to families and individuals in need throughout central and southern Illinois.

Utility Resources

Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded utility assistance program. Submit an application in person, by mail, or by fax.

Mediation Resources

St. Louis Mediation Project

The St. Louis Mediation Project is a free program for St. Louis County staffed by trained mediators helping tenants, homeowners, landlords, and lenders solve housing disputes in and out of court. We also assist landlords and tenants apply for rental and utility assistance.
